About Us

Following a review from New Zealand Football (NZF) of clubs across the country, it was recommended there is more collaboration between clubs to achieve and maintain the necessary accredited programmes such as Skills Centres (SKC) & Talent Development Programmes (TDP). These achievements support our footballers and offer further opportunities should they wish.

FCTM recognises the importance of having these programmes being available for our junior & youth in Tauranga Moana. Accreditation of these programmes will allow all players to further development opportunities through

  • Increasing the quality of training opportunities.
  • Providing clear guidelines based on international best practice.
  • Creating additional pathways for youth footballers.
  • Enabling access to additional footballing opportunities, such as automatic entry into other competitions, such as the Northern Regional Football (NRF) & the new National Youth Leagues.

In 2024 we launched a new female football collaboration. Tauranga City AFC (TCAFC), Otumoetai FC (OFC) and Papamoa FC (PFC) joined forces to create a comprehensive female football development pathway. By the end of the season we had achieved our two key short-term objectives:
1) To attain New Zealand Football accreditation for the Female Talent Development Programme (TDP); and 2) For the womens first team to secure promotion to the NRFL Women's Premiership.

These achievements are significant in that they create opportunities for female youth footballers that haven't existed in this region previously. In 2025 we will have U14 & U16 girls teams competing in the NRFL Youth competitions alongside our mixed teams, we will have a team competing in the NRFL Premiership League and we will also have access to the U18 Girls Youth National League competition.

When combined with our entries in the National U17 & U19 tournaments, it provides a lot of high quality football opportunities for our male & female youth players.
